Dr. Joe Mondoux

Just like his friendly smile suggests, Dr. Joe Mondoux is an honest to goodness nice guy. He's also one amazing Doctor. We met as students earning our Doctorates in Chiropractic, and although he was my junior in the program, Dr. Joe was as heady and competent as they came. We competed together on the same volleyball squad, and hung around as friends and colleagues, and Dr. Joe was always there with his laid back wit, and infectious laugh. A good Canadian kid, I watched him evolve into a student leader, and finally a Doctor with an easy to understand demeanour and gentle bedside manner with his patients. His skills are immense and he has since added acupuncture and functional movement expertise to his growing expertise.

It makes me proud to introduce Dr. Joe Mondoux to you all, his articles are always easy-to read and factual, backed by research. Enjoy!

IN HIS OWN WORDS - DR. JOE MONDOUX

I was born in Point Edward, Ontario and grew up in Calgary, Alberta where I developed my love for sports & athletics, becoming a provincial competitor in hockey & lacrosse. Upon relocation to Aurora, Ontario, I fell in love with volleyball, track & field and ultimate frisbee. Once again, I competed at the provincial level in all 3. Another relocation was in order and my trip came full circle; I moved back to the Sarnia area to finish my schooling before heading off to university. Throughout my many years of competitive sport, I suffered countless injuries, experiencing first hand the importance of proper treatment and the value of preventive care, which directed me to pursue a career in health care.
I obtained my Bachelor of Human Kinetics (Honours Movement Science) degree from the University of Windsor, where I was a member of the Varsity Mens Volleyball Team. I then attended New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) and received my Doctor of Chiropractic degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude. While at NYCC, I simultaneously completed my Bachelor of Professional Studies, earned my Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Diploma from McMaster University and became a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
I have come to understand the importance of offering the best & most effective treatments to  patients. Because of this, I became Full Body Certified in Active Release Techniques (ART®), a soft tissue treatment method for injuries involving muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia & nerves. Additional earned certifications include: Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Kinesio Taping and an Advanced Certificate in Sport Science & Human Performance.
While maintaining success in my studies, I also thrived in my clinical placement. I was selected to intern at the Canandaigua Veterans Affairs Medical Center where I treated veterans of the United States Armed Forces for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. I also had the opportunity to treat world-class athletes at the Ironman 70.3 Syracuse, NY and Musselman 70.3 Geneva, NY.
Helping people perform to their greatest potential and recover from injury is a passion of mine. As an athlete myself, I understand the importance of preventive, rehabilitative & performance enhancement care and am thrilled to be associated with Matheson Chiropractic as we strive to offer the very best of these services to our community.
